Supplies: 8 pieces of square paper
Time: 20 minutes
Today was a sick day for me. I spent most of the day in bed before going to work, so I wanted to make something really quick and easy. I made this origami star in fifth grade and I’ve been wanting to make one for the blog for quite awhile. So I figured a sick day would be the perfect time to make one.
Lay one square of paper on a flat surface with the wrong side facing up.
Fold the square in half and crease it.
Fold the top two corners down along the middle crease of the paper. It’s kind of like folding an airplane.
Fold the paper in half along the previous half crease again.
On the square side (the right side of the picture above) fold the corner along the creased edge down to make a diamondish shape.
Fold that same fold the other way. Then do an inverse fold (that’s probably not the technical term). I don’t really know how to explain this part, but here are some pictures and here’s a video of the whole process.
Make eight of those.
Hold one piece like this:
and place a second piece in between the flaps. Then fold the points over to secure the two together. This is another one that’s hard to explain, so check out the video.
Repeat until all eight pieces are in a wreath shape.
Then you can push opposite sides together and you’ll get a lovely star!
And there you go! Fifth grade star/wreath! Now I’m off to bed to get well!
